Application Requirements

  • Submit a completed application (ATCAS) and applicable fees

  • Request an official transcript to be sent to ATCAS:

  • Request three (3) letters of recommendation (evaluations)

  • Submit a 750 word essay (personal statement) that discusses the following:
    • Why are you interested in the athletic training profession?
    • What are the professional goals you hope to achieve?

  • Submit prerequisite coursework:
    Applicants must have completed all prerequisite coursework prior to matriculation into the Athletic Training Program. Prerequisite coursework must be completed within seven (7) years of submitting application. All applicants must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher within these courses. No grade lower that a ‘C’ will be accepted.

  • Submit observation hours:
    Applicants to the Master of Science in Athletic Training Program at Harding University must complete 40 hours of observation/volunteer time prior to matriculating into the curriculum. All hours must be accumulated under the direct supervision of a certified/licensed athletic trainer and occur at multiple professional settings (university/college, secondary school, industrial, hospital/clinic, etc.). Observation hours should be within three (3) years of submitting application.

Admission Requirements

  • Applicants must have a competitive grade point average (GPA) on all undergraduate coursework. The ideal applicant will have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher at time of application.

  • The Graduate Record Examination (GRE) must have been taken within five (5) years of applying for the Athletic Training Program. No minimum score is required. GRE results should support academic grades and demonstrate ability to successfully take standardized exams.
    Onsite interview. Accommodations, such as a web based interview, may be made for applicants living out of state.

  • A criminal background check will be arranged by the Athletic Training Program and is a condition of continued enrollment within the Harding University Athletic Training Program. Failure to consent to a criminal background check or refusal to provide necessary information to conduct a background check will result in dismissal from the Program.
