About Generation HU
Generation HU is a program created to engage graduates of the past 10 years. As a young alumnus, you are a very important part of the bison nation, and we want you to be an active part of the family. We want to keep you connected through networking, serving, giving opportunities. We understand, as a recent college graduate, your budget may be a little tight and your time limited, but your gift of time or money of any size can make a huge impact.
We have a new menu this year consisting of shrimp, sausage & the fixings that comes with our shrimp boil. This years location will be closer to the social club row, so you can conveniently stop by to visit all young alum, as well as your social club. We will have a photo booth competition at the tailgate, you can get more details the day of Homecoming at our booth.
Whether you’re hunting for a job, looking for a church home, or just wanting to reconnect with your alma mater, we can help. The Office of University Advancement will organize the professional portion, with assistance by the COBA Center for Professional Excellence and the Harding Career Services. These two organizations are constantly seeking to better serve students and alumni.
- Providing job help, from creating professional connections to resume consultations
- Helping you find a church home, whether you’re new to the area or you just haven’t found the right one yet
- Planning social events on campus, such as tailgates, dinners and sports activities
- Hosting Generation HU events in cities with a large young alumni population to make it easier to connect and re-connect recent alumni with each other.
Generation HU in your city?
Events have been held in Little Rock, Northwest Arkansas, Nashville, Oklahoma City, Dallas, and Searcy. Generation HU is looking to host events in new locations such as, Atlanta, St. Louis and Alabama. If you would like to volunteer to help organize an event in your city contact Andi Haney.
Our alumni events consist of various activities. Whether it be a baseball game, or a tailgate, our goal is to bring Harding alumni together. These events provide an opportunity to meet fellow alumni you may not have connected with as an undergraduate and also, reunites old friends. These events provide professional networking opportunities with other Harding graduates spread across various professions.
If an event is planned for your city, you don’t want to miss it. To stay informed on when and where the events will be held, make sure your contact information is updated below.

10 Ways to Support HU
Young Alumni Service Project Instructions
Serving is a key component to the Harding experience, but we do not want it to end once you graduate. Generation HU introduces to you Bisons for Christ Nationwide. Bisons for Christ is a designated day where students, organizations, clubs, and athletic teams get together to take on various service-orientated tasks on and off campus.
This spring we will host Bisons for Christ Nationwide for alumni to join together in their communities and participate in service projects.
More detail will be shared closer to the date. Make sure your contact information is up-to-date so we can stay connected with you.
Generation HU Giving Plan
Make a 3 or 5 year pledge to make an annual donation in the amount of your graduation year ($20.10 for 2010 grads), or more. This may seem like a small amount, but the chart below illustrates that together young alumni can contribute small amounts that ultimately make a big difference.
As an alumnus, you have the opportunity to pass on the Harding experience to current and future students. By sharing your time and experiences and making an easy gift of your graduation year or more, you can support Harding and make a difference.
For more information on giving, visit our website.
Currently, approximately 10 percent of all Harding alumni give back. But of the 10,000 young alumni, less than 5 percent support Harding though gifts. With the help of donor support, your college tuition payment was reduced by one-third. By paying it forward with your monetary gifts, you can provide that same financial help to current and future students.
We want you to stay connected to the university after you graduate, and we hope your willingness to support your alma mater continues to grow. We value your participation, so the dollar amount of your donation is not the most important aspect.
Share your time and experiences
Do you remember when you were a student and a guest spoke to your class, your department, or the whole student body? We want that to be you. Giving your time and sharing your experiences is a great way to ensure and advance the educational experience of Harding students. Do you have stories, experiences, advice and information you wish you would have known when you graduated? Students love hearing from experienced professionals who were once sitting in the seats of their own classrooms.
How to get involved?
If you are interested in speaking to students, email GenerationHU. If you have a Harding faculty member with whom you are particularly close, contact that person directly. This way you can work with their class schedule to find a time that suits you both.
If you visit the Harding campus please feel free to stop by the Advancement Office in Heritage room 213 and ask for Andi Haney.
I have heard about the President’s Council; is this different? How?
President’s Council and Generation HU are not the same, although they are both run through the Advancement Office. President’s Council members make a pledge to give a minimum of $50 a month, or $600 a year.
Can I designate my gift to be used for the college that I graduated in?
(i.e.: College of Business Administration, College of Nursing, etc.)
You can designate your Harding Fund gift to any college or department that you would like.
What impact does such a small gift have?
Every gift contributes to our task of making a difference. Your gift alone may be small, but, if you, your friends, and their friends give, you have significantly affected the participation rate. Participation is key, and together we can make a difference.
I am still paying off my loans; why would I give to the Harding Fund?
Your loans are paying for the products and service (your school). Your gift is paying it forward to show your appreciation for the intangibles that you received from the University. Donations reduce the cost of attending Harding by approximately one third. Through your gift, you allow other students to have the same experience and join thousands of others alumni who have also paid it forward.
How will I benefit from giving?
By giving, you are showing us that you want to be a part of the young alumni program. In addition to being recognized in the Harding alumni magazine, you also get the benefit of knowing you are helping students to receive the Harding experience.
If I am married, do we both need to give separate gifts?
Since this giving program is all about participation, we would love to have husbands and wives both give. You can combine your graduation years and give that total if you would like.
