PROFESSIONAL LICENSURE DISCLOSURES

Federal regulations require Harding University to disclose whether its degree programs meet U.S. jurisdictions’ educational requirements for licensure (34 CFR 668.43(a)(6) & 34 CFR 668.72(n)).

The Harding University academic programs listed below are designed to prepare students for a career in a licensed profession upon completion of the program. A professional license is typically required for graduates of these programs to practice and/or gain employment in these fields.

Each state and territory has different professional licensure and certification requirements. Other licensure requirements may include professional examinations, background checks, years of work experience, fingerprinting requirements, etc.

Prospective and current students should also keep in mind that licensing and authorization requirements vary by state and that relocating during the course of a program to another state could impact whether they can continue in the course, meet the eligibility requirements of that state, and/or receive financial aid funding. Students considering relocation during their academic program are encouraged to communicate with the program contact listed below to check for authorization and licensure eligibility requirements.

Behavioral Sciences

The BSW at Harding University meets the educational requirements for licensure in the state of Arkansas. Upon successful completion of the degree, a graduate of Harding University's Social Work Program may seek licensure by the state by passing the LSW Exam administered by the Association of Social Work Board. A one-year provisional license may be applied for after graduation until one takes the LSW Exam.

Students who wish to obtain a license in another state should check with the Social Work Licensing Board in that state to determine eligibility for licensure. The Social Work Guide provides information about the Social Work field and the licensing requirements for each state.

Business

CPA licensure may not be required for employment as an accountant but is an expectation in professional firms offering accounting services to the public. All U.S. states and territories require applicants for Certified Public Accountant (CPA) licensure to complete 150 credit hours of coursework. The 150-hour educational requirement includes the 120 hours required for most accounting degrees. Licensure will require additional credit hours beyond those taken to meet degree requirements for Harding's Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting.

Additional requirements for CPA professional accounting certification vary by state and typically require more than successful degree completion. Graduates who apply for CPA certification may need to satisfy other requirements, such as work experience or specific state-required exams in addition to the Uniform CPA Examination.

Education

Requirements for teacher licensure vary by state and may involve more than successful degree completion. Graduates who apply for licensure may need to satisfy other requirements, such as completing an application, paying a fee, and passing associated state licensure exams. Completion of an education licensure program offered through an Arkansas institution may not qualify a graduate to obtain a teaching license in any other state.

The following Harding programs are approved by the Arkansas Division of Higher Education and Arkansas Department of Education. Students who successfully complete the programs and pass all associated state licensure exams are eligible to be recommended for Arkansas Educator Licensure.

Nursing

All programs offered by the Harding's Carr College of Nursing are approved by the Arkansas State Board of Nursing. Upon graduation, the student is qualified to take the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN) to become a registered nurse.
