Jack Nicklaus — the champion, golf course designer, businessman, philanthropist and good-will ambassador — is synonymous with greatness in golf. He is considered the greatest champion in golf history, with a record 18 major championships among his 120 professional victories worldwide. Nicklaus was named “Golfer of the 20th Century” or “Golfer of the Millennium” by nearly every major golf publication in the world. He was also named Individual Male Athlete of the 20th Century by Sports Illustrated and one of the 10 Greatest Athletes of the Century by ESPN. In June 2018, he became the first athlete and just the fourth person in history to be awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom, Congressional Gold Medal and Ford Theatre Society’s Lincoln Medal. His career touched parts of six decades, and he is the first to win all the modern majors—considered the “Grand Slam”—on both the regular and senior tours. Having designed close to 320 courses, he was also voted 2017 Golf Course Designer of the Year by World Golf Awards. Tireless philanthropists, he and his wife, Barbara, are the guiding light for the Nicklaus Children’s Health Care Foundation which supports numerous pediatric health care services across the country, and has raised over $200 million in just 20 years. Residents of North Palm Beach, Florida, Jack and Barbara have five children, 24 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
