Assessment and Program Review

Harding University is committed to the ongoing assessment of student learning to ensure a high quality education with strong student learning outcomes. Harding’s dedication to preparing graduates with the knowledge, skills, and dispositions necessary for successful careers in their chosen disciplines is central to its mission. To support this commitment, the University Assessment Committee (UAC) has been at the forefront of these efforts since 2001, developing robust assessment tools, providing educational resources to staff and faculty, and promoting a culture of assessment across the entire institution. Through these initiatives, Harding continuously evaluates and enhances its programs to ensure that students are equipped for both professional success and lifelong learning.

The UAC focuses on these primary objectives:

The UAC encourages all university units to think about student learning or departmental outcomes for the purposes of long-term planning. While there are many parts to the University machine, all units play a role in student learning and institutional effectiveness. Appropriate assessment of outcomes is an important part of improving results.

The UAC assists all University units in reporting institutional changes informed by data, whether reporting within the University system or for other agencies. Therefore, the UAC advises units in identifying data in their areas that have led to institutional changes for the sake of student learning. Once identified, these changes will be included in assessment reports and reports for Academic Planning and Performance Review
