Verbal Reasoning - Measures the ability to analyze and draw conclusions from discourse, reason from incomplete data, understand multiple levels of meaning, such as literal, figurative and author’s intent, summarize text, distinguish major from minor points, understand the meanings of words, sentences and entire texts, and understand relationships among words and among concepts. There is an emphasis on complex verbal reasoning skills.
Quantitative Reasoning - Measures the ability to understand, interpret and analyze quantitative information, solve problems using mathematical models, and apply the basic concepts of arithmetic, algebra, geometry and data analysis. There is an emphasis on quantitative reasoning skills.
Analytical Writing - Measures critical thinking and analytical writing skills, including the ability to articulate and support complex ideas with relevant reasons and examples, and examine claims and accompanying evidence. There is an emphasis on analytical writing skills.

The Praxis® tests measure the academic skills and subject-specific content knowledge needed for teaching. The Praxis tests are taken by individuals entering the teaching profession as part of the certification process required by many states and professional licensing organizations.
What are the requirements for Arkansas?
Many of the tests required for specific licensure areas are only offered during a two-week period each month. Harding University (Center Code STN12053A) has many testing dates on mornings, afternoons and Saturdays. Sign In to Your Praxis Account to register and view available test dates. Harding University CLEP Policy pdf
The College-Level Examination Program (CLEP) allows students the opportunity to demonstrate college-level achievement in undergraduate courses. Students are able to receive college credit for demonstrated knowledge in Composition and Literature, Foreign Languages, History and Social Sciences, Science and Mathematics, and Business. Most CLEP exams allow 90 minutes to test, with the exception of the College Composition exam which is 120 minutes. This exam includes multiple choice and 2 essay portions. Please click on the HU CLEP exam policy above to see the specific CLEP exams that HU awards course credit. Official test scores must be sent to Harding from College Board. According to CLEP website, test takers may not repeat an exam of the same title within three months of the initial testing date. If you retake the exam within the three-month period, your administration will be considered invalid, your score will be canceled, and any test fees will be forfeited. The ACT® test contains four multiple-choice tests: English, mathematics, reading, and science. The ACT with writing includes the four multiple-choice tests and a writing test.

For College of Education students, you have the option to only take specific sections that are needed, however, the exam fee is a flat fee of $85. Current students are allowed to charge their student account at the HU Business Office. Please bring the receipt and a photo ID when you come to test.
An on-campus testing program is available to students who were unable to test on an ACT National Testing date. ACT On-Campus is strictly limited only to students who have officially applied, have been admitted, or have enrolled at your institution. Scores from on-campus testing are reported only to Harding University for admission, course placement and advising purposes.
* Scores from on-campus testing are only valid at Harding University and cannot be transferred by transcript or other means to any other institution or agency.

Students take the exam on their own laptop or tablet, and receive their scores the same day, which they can then share with colleges of their choice at no charge. All dates that CLT is offered are remote proctoring.

Directions: From Hwy 67: Take exit 46 (Race Street Exit) towards Searcy/Heber Springs. Head West on Race Street for approximately 2 miles, turn left at Harding's main entrance - (large sign) on S. Grand. Proceed through one four way stop and you will see the American Studies building straight ahead.
Parking: Examinees can park in the large parking lot on the right. As they enter the front door of the American Studies building, they will take a right at the first hall to the elevator to the 2nd floor. When they get off the elevator at the 2nd floor, they should turn left and then take the hallway to the right. Then, they will see the Office of Testing sign.
If you are scheduled for a standardized exam at the Office of Testing and road conditions are unsafe for travel from your location, you must contact testing agencies such as ETS-Praxis, ACT, SAT etc. directly to inform them of unsafe travel conditions to re-schedule your exam. Testing agencies usually require documentation of the weather forecast. The Harding University Office of Testing does not re-schedule these standardized exams; the testing agency manages re-scheduling.
If the Harding University campus is closed due to weather, the HU Testing Office will also be closed.
