A two-week program
Honors Symposium Abroad is a two-week program (June 6-18, 2026) designed for students either entering their freshman year of college or their senior year of high school in the fall of 2026. The program is based in Porto Rafti, Greece, where students will reside and study in our Harding-owned apartment-style resort. Group tours in Greece are being planned for Athens, Corinth, Delphi, Sounion and Meteora.
Students will report to the Searcy campus by the morning of June 6th and travel to Greece together on June 7th. Students are responsible for arranging their own travel to Searcy on June 6th and travel home after the group returns to Little Rock on June 18th.
Three hours of university credit are awarded to those who successfully complete the program. Students who will have just finished their senior year will enroll in BHIS 1040 - Mediterranean World. This course qualifies as a semester of Bible. (Harding University students are exempt from a Bible class once they pass eight semesters of Bible and have fulfilled the Liberal Arts Spiritual and Moral Values requirement. A Bible class worth two or more credit hours in the summer equates to a semester of Bible.)
Students who will have just finished their junior year will enroll in HNRS 1000. This credit may be transferable to the college or university of the participant's choice, with that institution determining how, or if, to apply the credit. At Harding, credits earned in HNRS 1000 may be applied to one of the following liberal arts courses:
- English 2010 or 2020 (World Literature I or II)
- History 1010 or 1020 (American History to 1877 or American History since 1877)
