Visual arts studio at Harding

This program is designed for aspiring professional artists who expect a solid foundation in the principles and practices of visual expression as well as freedom to develop depth in creative concentrations specific to a unique artist’s vision and language. Students learn the basics of entrepreneurship through the Waldron Center for Entrepreneurship and Family Business.

Why study visual arts studio at Harding?

Study abroad

Art, Architecture and Design International is a six-week international program for students studying art, design and architecture. The first two weeks are spent on campus followed by four weeks studying in locations in Europe and beyond, including England, France, Italy and Spain.

Chicago Art, Architecture and Design Trip

The Chicago Art, Architecture and Design trip explores various areas of interest. Interior design and graphic design students visit professional firms and agencies. Fine art students focus on galleries, studios and museums. All tour historical architecture and major museums.

The mission of the department of art and design at Harding University is to produce graduates who are knowledgeable, creative and engaged professionals deeply rooted in Christian values. A dedicated, student-focused faculty, who strive to embody these same qualities through a Christ-centered approach to creative expression, scholarship, mentoring, teaching and service, carries out this mission.

American Society of Interior Designers

The American Society of Interior Designers prepares members to excel in a dynamic and evolving profession. ASID strives to advance the interior design profession and, in the process, to demonstrate and celebrate the power of design to positively change people’s lives.

What can you do with a degree in visual arts studio?

Art directors

A degree in art lays the foundation for careers in a range of fields including roles as an art director in advertising, marketing, publishing, film and television, and more. Experiences in a variety of media as well as study abroad opportunities and hands-on experience will set you up for success. 

Sculptors

Working in a variety of media including stone, metal, wood or clay, sculptors create three dimensional art for commissioned work, public art projects or gallery exhibits.

Painters

Professional painters use a range of media to create art for galleries, exhibitions and commissioned work, showcasing their unique style and creative vision.
