Public Relations

Public Relations majors study to become professional communicators. Organizations large and small need a strong communicator to help tell their story. Majoring in public relations means telling a story by learning how to use digital, print and broadcast media. Public relations is needed everywhere, including agencies, corporate offices, nonprofits, education, government and churches. Public relations graduates from Harding University are seen across the country as candidates for more than entry level jobs.

Our public relations majors are known nationally and internationally for their skill sets as well as their dedication to a moral and ethical life and career. Recent graduates serve at the highest levels of corporate communication as well as in solo entrepreneurial start-ups plugged in at a coffee shop. Some recent students have chosen graduate school where they have found assistantships and research opportunities.

Public Relations

Public relations majors are in demand across campus and in the Searcy business community because so many people realize the need for an in-house professional communicator. Public relations majors gain real-world work experience right here on campus in departments like the Career Center, the Bison baseball team and University Communications and Marketing. Students have also worked with local restaurants, non-profits and creative organizations.

All public relations majors are required to complete at least one professional internship. Additionally, public relations majors expand their portfolio by working in all aspects of student media including the Bison newspaper, Petit Jean yearbook, HU16 news and sports, and KVHU radio.
