Certificate in Translation at Harding

The certificate is designed to help students learn and practice skills necessary for translation in the workplace, as a freelance operator or in service to the community.

Course offerings include an overview of translation and specific specializations, theory, ethics, technology and business for translators, plus electives that include medical, literary and legal translation, and interpreting.

Courses are currently offered for French-English and Spanish-English language pairs.

Level 1 RWS Certification through SDL Trados is available to students through the business and technology course.

Participation in the Global Seal of Biliteracy allows students to pursue other language-related credentials at a discounted cost.

Development and learning opportunities — Students will be invited to attend local and national annual conferences to learn about translation trends and opportunities.

Practical application and community service through the Center for Translation, a language service provider that offers language services for free or at reduced rates as part of our commitment to serving the Harding and Searcy communities.

Community outreach offered through the department provides students opportunities to use the target language in service to others.

Internship opportunities may be available.
