"1, 2, 3, Once Upon A Time"
It’s the way a story starts whenever the Pied Pipers perform.
The Pied Pipers are a children’s theatre troupe from Harding University. The Pipers are selected university students who share a love of theatre and a love for children. Auditions for the troupe are held at the beginning of the fall semester. The Pipers are improvisational, with every performance being a different and delightful blend of familiar fairy and folk tales, nursery rhymes, poems, games and songs. Every performance is designed for the age and number of children.
The Pied Pipers wear jumpsuits of brightly colored material as their single costume and no props are used — imagination is the key. Personal participation is an important part of each Pied Piper performance, and awakens in the child an awareness of the very essence of theatre — involvement. The Pipers can perform in any space, ranging from closets to gymnasiums and do not require a stage or sound equipment.
The Pied Pipers of Harding are available for performances and workshops to all public and private school systems, children’s homes, hospitals, preschool centers, centers for individuals with special needs, libraries, churches, children’s theatre organizations and local art councils, as well as private and commercial businesses or groups.
