Our students gain significant ministry experience outside the classroom. Bible majors speak at devotionals, in chapel, at area churches and during the annual Inspire Lectureship. Churches across the nation seek Harding students to fill their needs for summer youth interns, camp counselors and both part-time and full-time ministry opportunities.
Students also have many avenues for missional and international travel. Harding’s Global Outreach program sends students to dozens of international locations each summer, and spring break mission trips serve across the country and around the world. Bible majors may particularly be interested in study abroad programs such as Harding in Zambia — which gives students a chance to spend a semester living and working in a mission context in Africa — and Harding University in Greece — with its emphasis on an in-depth study of biblical backgrounds in the places where so many biblical events occurred.
Bible faculty bring a wealth of ministry and missions experience to the classroom. They are available for mentoring in ministry, academic support, conversations about big questions and prayer. The interaction between teachers and students is the heartbeat of the College of Bible and Ministry.
Bible and ministry majors are prepared to serve the church in a variety of roles including preaching. Equipped with both biblical knowledge and communication skills, you'll be ready to teach and lead a local congregation.
Bible and ministry majors are trained in biblical scholarship and have a variety of opportunities to gain hands-on mission experience. Through Global Outreach, spring break missions and Global Mission Experience, you'll build relationships and gain the skills needed to serve the kingdom around the world.
A degree in Bible and ministry prepares you to serve as a chaplain in the armed forces or in hospitals and other health care facilities. In these roles, you'll make a significant impact as you walk through difficult seasons with others.
