Scholars Advancing Learning and Teaching

SALT provides education majors an opportunity to discuss issues in education on a local, state and national level. Members become involved with the community and promote education for children in local schools.

Study abroad

Students in the College of Education can observe the various facets of teaching during a five-week summer program in Scotland.

Honor society

Kappa Delta Pi honor society promotes excellence in and recognizes outstanding contributions to education. This society endeavors to maintain a high degree of professional fellowship among its members, quicken professional growth and honor achievement in educational work.

What can you do with a degree in elementary education?

Kindergarten teachers

Kindergarten teachers foster early childhood development through structured learning activities and play. They create engaging lesson plans aligned with educational standards, promote social and emotional skills, and nurture foundational literacy and numeracy skills. Kindergarten teachers play a vital role in preparing children for academic success and lifelong learning.

Preschool teachers

As a preschool teacher, you'll nurture and educate young children in a stimulating and safe environment. Preschool teachers create engaging lesson plans, facilitate learning through play, and promote social and emotional development. They support early literacy and numeracy skills, encourage creativity, and foster a love for learning, laying a solid foundation for future academic success.

Literacy interventionists

A role as a literacy interventionist in elementary education focuses on providing targeted support to students struggling with reading and language skills. Interventionists assess students' literacy levels, develop personalized intervention plans, and implement evidence-based strategies to improve reading comprehension and fluency. Literacy interventionists play a crucial role in ensuring all students achieve proficiency in literacy skills essential for academic success.
