Secondary Teaching Licensure at Harding

The secondary education degree prepares candidates for teaching seventh through 12th grades with an emphasis in drama/speech, English, family and consumer sciences, mathematics, social science, or theatre.

Students seeking licensure to teach must major in a secondary teaching area.

SALT provides education majors an opportunity to discuss issues at the local, state and national levels. Members become involved with the community and promote education for children in local schools.

Study abroad

Students in the College of Education can observe the various facets of teaching during a five-week summer program in Scotland.

Honor society

Kappa Delta Pi honor society promotes excellence in and recognizes outstanding contributions to education. This society endeavors to maintain a high degree of professional fellowship among its members, quicken professional growth and honor achievement in educational work.

High school teachers

High school teachers play a pivotal role in preparing students for college and careers. They create and implement lesson plans, foster critical thinking, and assess student progress. More importantly, they support student development, offer guidance on academic and personal goals, and collaborate with parents and colleagues to ensure academic success.

Middle school teachers

Whether you choose to specialize in English, language arts, social science, or math and science, you'll be fostering academic growth and social and personal development during a crucial period of transition. You'll create engaging lesson plans facilitate classroom activities, promote critical thinking and collaboration, and assess student progress. Overall, you'll play a crucial role in the lives of young people as you prepare them for success in high school and beyond.

With a degree in K-12 education, you may choose to strengthen your professional skills through continued content specialization at the graduate level. Harding offers a variety of graduate opportunities in education, and you'll be equipped to be successful in any program you choose.
