New theology library on the Searcy campus
We’re excited to share that the board of trustees approved the construction of a new building for the theology library on the Searcy campus. When this $8.5 million project is complete, Harding School of Theology’s vast collection will be housed in 18,000 square feet of space. An artist’s rendering of the proposed structure is pictured above.
HST’s advantage in academics has always included access to one of the most extensive theology collections in our fellowship. We plan to include the most important parts of HST library’s legacy in our new space and provide for new and future needs.
Continuing the legacy:
- Same collection, new location: The renowned HST collection will be kept intact and made available to HST students in open, browseable stacks on the second floor.
- A full-time theological librarian will be on staff to assist students and patrons.
- Students will have access to multiple study spaces as well as a dedicated study room on the second floor that will be specifically reserved for HST students.
- Students will also have easy access to HST’s extensive reference collection on the first floor.
Planning for the future:
- The new building will have a climate-controlled archival space for the HST Archives.
- A full-time archivist will be on staff to assist students and patrons.
- The HST collection will continue to grow each year with the help of our generous donors.
- The HST library addition will be open 86 hours a week, including late evening hours for working students.
