Health care missions have been a major focus since the college was founded. All students who desire to have a global health care/cultural experience are encouraged to do so and are assisted in fulfilling that dream. International mission trips may include Cambodia, Guatemala, Nicaragua, Thailand, Tanzania and Zambia.
The Harding Nurses Student Association is the largest chapter in the state of Arkansas. Students lead and serve in service projects, professional development, state and national events and decisions. The HNSA meets monthly and officers are elected each year among the students. There are two faculty sponsors to guide and mentor the students in these activities.
The Carr College of Nursing’s mission statement is “Developing Nurses as Christian Servants.” The Carr College of Nursing fosters a supportive environment which challenges professional and advanced practice nursing students to reach their full potential. The programs’ purposes are to provide a quality professional education which leads to an understanding and philosophy of life consistent with Christian ideals.
The Carr College of Nursing offers full-time and part-time admission opportunities to prepare nurses for the challenges and rewards of professional nursing. The baccalaureate degree in nursing, master’s degree in nursing and post-graduate APRN certificate program at Harding University are accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (www.ccneaccreditation.org) and have continuing full approval of the Arkansas State Board of Nursing (ASBN) (www.arsbn.org).
For registered nurses and advanced practice registered nurses who have completed an MSN in another area, up to 15 hours of essential MSN courses may count toward the 45-hour MSN-FNP degree completion.
A Master of Science in Nursing — Family Nurse Practitioner degree prepares nurses for comprehensive care in family practice settings. This program emphasizes advanced clinical training and evidence-based practice equipping FNPs to provide primary health care across the lifespan.
In primary care settings, graduates excel in delivering comprehensive health care services. This program prepares FNPs to manage a wide range of health issues from routine check-ups to chronic disease management, emphasizing holistic patient care and health promotion. FNPs are trained to assess patient needs, provide personalized treatment plans and collaborate with interdisciplinary health care teams to optimize patient outcomes.
In urgent care centers, the expertise gained through the Master of Science in Nursing — Family Nurse Practitioner program enables graduates to deliver timely and efficient health care services. The program emphasizes critical thinking and rapid decision-making skills preparing FNPs to handle urgent medical conditions with professionalism and compassion.
